Mrs. Burnette Ann Carter, 75, passed away on December 19, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born on March 29, 1942 to Alfred Robert Johnson and Daisy Pearl Ely Johnson in Lee County, VA. Burnette worked as a Machine Operator for Royal Cake Company, retiring with 23 years of service. She was a kind-hearted lady who also had a feisty style. She enjoyed working puzzles. Above all, Burnette was a loving and devoted wife. In addition to her parents, Burnette was preceded in death by a son, Robert Allen Merritt; brothers, Billy David Johnson, and Claude Johnson; and sisters, Louise Carter, and Delephene Ball. Surviving are her loving husband of 20 years, Carl David Carter of the home; sisters, Ruth Keenan of OH, Lucille Richardson of MI, and Geneva Carter of VA; a brother, Jerry Johnson of IN; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Friday, December 22, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Kevin Kilbreth officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
