Mr. Burlon Festus Gause, 83, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at his home. He was born March 5, 1928 in Horry County, SC to the late Arnetta Duncan Gause and Bertram Mayo Gause. Mr. Gause served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He began his career with McDonald Douglas Aircraft, Inc. He then founded Charlotte Cutting Tool Co. and Winston Tool Co., Inc. He was a member of the Society of Mechanical Engineers. Mr. Gause served on the Stokes County Arts Council Board of Directors. He loved bluegrass music. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gause was preceded in death by his first wife, Harriet Carol Wightman Gause; and a brother, Reece Gause. Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Morgan Gause; daughter, Gloria Anne Gause (Kenny) Kiser of Pfafftown; four sons, Dennis Wayne (Jean Eller) Gause of King, Brian Jeffrey (Lisa O'Connor) Gause of Indian Trail, Stephen Earl (Tina Newman) Gause of Mt. Airy, and David Evan (Dawn McAndrew) Gause of King; ten grandchildren, Brice, Corey, Geoffrey, Brandon, Ashleigh, Heather, Shannon, Carol, Brianna and Kendal; three great-grandchildren, Coy, Job and Elise; four sisters, Catherine Bailey of Little River, SC, Flossie Arnette of Murrells Inlet, SC, Juanice Hardee of Marion, SC and Louise Suggs of Loris, SC; and also, two brothers, Bert Gause of Senoia, GA and Jay Gause of Conway, SC. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, October 29 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with the Dr. Jack Darida officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park with military honors provided by American Legion Post 290. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 28 at the funeral home.
