Burl “Bud” William Kaylor, Jr., 75, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center.
Burl was born on December 14, 1948, in Catawba County and grew up in the Hickory and Granite Falls areas. During high school, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served as a Heavy Vehicle Driver in Vietnam. After his military service, Burl worked for many years in the maintenance department at B/E Aerospace in Winston-Salem.
Burl enjoyed watching NASCAR and rarely missed watching a Sunday race on TV. He also had a beloved canine companion, Simba, who he loved very much.
Surviving family includes his three children, Christopher Kaylor, Diana Hartley (Nick) and Megan Murphy (Devin); five grandchildren, Indigo, Cyrus, Amber, Coal and Camden Hartley; and sister, Patricia.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 9 AM at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the VFW Memorial Honor Guard, 4433 Bashavia Dr., Pfafftown, NC 27040 or a mental health organization of your choice.
