Buford McClintock Faris

Mr. Buford McClintock Faris, 92, of Winston-Salem passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Regency Care of Clemmons. Mr. Faris was born in Chilhowie, VA on December 5, 1921 to John M. and Rowena Scott Faris. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Faris loved autos and traveling across the United States. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 22 years of service. Mr. Faris was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Blake and Neal Faris. He is survived by his wife, Margie Lonsford Durie Faris; a step-daughter, Levonda Durie Leamon; a step granddaughter, Melanie L. Goodson and husband Craig; two step great grandchildren, Madison Goodson, Logan Goodson and wife Lynsey; and one step great great granddaughter Skylar Goodson; a daughter, Susan F. Newman and husband Earl of South Hill, VA; and a grandson, Jodie Walker. A memorial service will be conducted 6:00 pm Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Elizabeth Forrest officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
