Bruce Edward Smith

Clemmons, NC: Smith: Mr. Bruce Edward Smith, 71, of Clemmons, NC, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2012 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. Mr. Smith was born December 21, 1940 in Lenoir County, NC to the late Ernest William and Nora Harrison Smith. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a former Bishop and Stake President and was presently serving as a counselor in the Charlotte, NC Mission. Mr. Smith was retired from Village Foods in which he owned and operated for twenty years. His hobbies in life was being with his loving family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Jenkins, and three brothers, Ralph, Leo, and Linwood Smith. Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Jerilynn Smith of the home, a son, Michael Smith and wife, Kim of Winston-Salem, three daughters, Sheri Isenhour and husband, Scott of Meeker, Colorado, Becky Griffith and husband, Jim of Hernado, Mississippi, Cindy Ingold and husband Tracy of Havelock, NC, 11 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, a sister, Mary Ruth Davis of Ogden, Utah, three brothers, Clifton Smith and wife, Joyce of High Point, NC, Horace Smith and wife, Betty of Ogden, Utah and Rodolph Smith of Ardmore, Oklahoma. The Funeral Service will be conducted 1:00 pm Thursday, January 5, 2012 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 4260 Clinard Road, Clemmons, NC officiated by Bishop Scott Snow. Burial will follow in the Westlawn Gardens of Memory, Clemmons, NC. The family will receive friends from 11:30-12:45 pm prior to the service at the Church.
