Brian Kielty, 63, of Myrtle Beach, SC, unexpectedly passed away at his home on Thursday, February 9, 2023.
He was born in Winston-Salem, NC to the late James and Betty Kielty. Brian graduated from Parkland High School in 1977 and N.C. State University in 1981. Upon graduation, he worked for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, IBM, and Lenovo.
Brian had a deep love for his family, primarily his grandsons whom he loved to provide timeless toys from his own childhood for them to enjoy. He was the quarterback of his high school football team and continued to love the sport his entire life, regularly watching N.C. State and the Carolina Panthers. Brian also had a deep appreciation for music; especially anything from The Blues Brothers and enjoyed playing the harmonica. He had a rich social life and will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Brian was preceded in death by a niece, Melissa Kielty.
He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Cumbee (Matt); and son, Jacob Kielty, both of Cary, NC. Brian is also survived by his grandsons, Josiah, Gideon, and Abram Cumbee; brothers, Jim of Las Cruces, NM, Tom (Betsie) of Whitsett, NC, and Marc (Karen) of Raleigh, NC. Additionally, he is survived by his nephew, Andy Kielty (Chantel); and niece, Kristin Klinglesmith (Kevin); and several great nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to express their appreciation to Brian’s Myrtle Beach “family” for their love and support, especially Bob and Mary Lee and Courtney Greer.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 24, 2023 at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, with Deacon Serge Bernatchez officiating. Inurnment will immediately follow the service in the cemetery.
