Brent "Smitty" Lacy Smith

After a difficult and courageous battle with depression and anxiety, Brent “Smitty” Lacy Smith passed away on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 25, 2021. In his younger years Brent played baseball at South Little League and played football for the Tiny Greyhounds. He graduated from Parkland High School in the class of 1982, and he was an active member of Pinedale Christian Church. Brent was a fire fighter with the Winston-Salem Fire Department for five years. He was a licensed contractor and an active member of the Home Builders Association. Brent was very talented and particular with the many homes that he built over the years. He enjoyed playing golf and watching NASCAR. He was a loving and helpful son, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his parents, Fred and Doris Smith; loving sister, Amy Ketchie; brother, Barry Smith (Lori); nieces, Katelyn Kelley (Jake) and Bailey Smith; nephew, Nathan Baity; great nieces and nephew, Skylar, Emmy, and Grayson Kelley; and the friends that he made over the years. The family will hold a private graveside service at Parklawn Memorial Park with Jerry Mathis officiating. It is the family’s wishes that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Konnoak Hills Lions Club, 2681 Weymoth Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
