Brenda Murphy

Brenda Kay (Lewis) Murphy was born on May 9, 1948 in Danville, VA to a large and supportive family of eight siblings. She passed away on February 5, 2023 at the age of 74 after battling a long illness. Brenda was the beloved wife of Carlton Eugene Murphy, who is also deceased. She is a retired RN and was very much loved by her coworkers. As a nurse who worked for years on a respiratory unit at Forsyth Medical Center, she brought genuine warmth and compassion to those who were under her care. In her free time, she loved to stay active by going to the YWCA, attending church, listening to music, spending time with her family, and taking trips to the beach with her sisters. She is survived by her two grown children, Carla and Patrick, along with her siblings Beverly Cook, Kim Pollard, Bonnie Patterson, Barbara Beasley, Billy Sauceman, and Ronnie Lewis, as well as many nieces and nephews. A private family memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, family is requesting donations to be made to The Alzheimer’s Foundation or Arbor Day Foundation in her memory.
