Brenda Jones Kelly

Mrs. Brenda Jones Kelly age, 61 of King passed away Monday, January 21, 2013 at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem. Brenda was born July 24, 1951 in Forsyth County to David Lee and Betty Mae Garner Jones. She worked at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for over 35 years and was the Chairperson for the Magnet Commission on Nursing for two terms. She was selected as a 2012 Great 100 Nurse in North Carolina. In 2011 Brenda was honored as National Certified Nurse of the Year by the ANCC. She was a devoted wife, beloved mother and grandmother, and was a mentor to many of her fellow nurses during her nursing career. Brenda was preceded in death by her father; David Lee Jones. Surviving are her husband of 35 years; Rick Kelly, a daughter; Chrissy (Jody) Corne and one son; Jesse Kelly. One step-son; William (Linda) Lower of NJ. Three grandchildren: Liam, Mary-Catherine and Rachel. Her mother; Betty G. Jones. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall Wednesday evening January 23, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
