Brenda Smith Barker

Brenda Smith Barker, 66, passed away at Wake Forest Baptist Health on Friday, September 11, 2015. Brenda was born on January 13, 1949 in Forsyth County. She was employed as a sales clerk at J.C. Penney, retiring with 28 years of service. She enjoyed her friends at the YMCA, and good times spent at the lake. Above all, she loved her family. Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Percy Robert Smith; and her husband, Robert Leonard Barker. Surviving are her mother, Earline Cole Smith of Lexington; 5 children, Sherry Strickland (Mark) of Advance, Randy Barker of Advance, Christie Mock (Michael) of Advance, Jaime Barker (Kristen) of Clemmons, and Benji Barker of Advance; 6 grandchildren, Jessica Strickland, Morgan Strickland, Austin Mock, Payton Mock, Madison Barker, and Ethan Barker; as well as a brother, Jerry Smith of Lexington, and a sister, Charlotte Thomason of Lexington. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory with Rev. Bob McCaskill officiating.
