WALKERTOWN-Mrs. Bonnie Lou Walters, 70, passed away after a brief illness at her home on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 surrounded by the love of her beloved family. She was born October 15, 1938 in Wythe Co., Virginia to the late Roy and Ruby Smith. For I am now ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Herman S. Walters; and her sister, Witty. Surviving are two daughters, Rhonda (Tonya) Walters of Walkertown, Dana (Rick) Walters of Belews Creek; two sons, Terry Walters of Walkertown, and Daryl Walters of Belews Creek; a beloved sister, Ann Umberger of Wytheville, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Josh, Zach, Jake, Alicia, Cameron, Dalton, and Courtney; one great-grandchild, Aiden; and many loved and cherished nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:30 pm Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Wayne Dunn officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103 in memory of Mrs. Bonnie Lou Walters. A special thank you to all the wonderful people at Palliative Care and Hospice, also Maxine Walters, William and Gelaine Bell, Kristle Walters, Dennis and Jenee Jones, Leona Watson, Robin Meredith, Ann Umberger, Karen Willis, and family from Rhonda and Tonya for all your love and support.
