Dr. Bonnie Gabard Pope passed away peacefully on May 5, 2016 a t the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home after a courageous fight with cancer. Bonnie was born November 9, 1953 in Forsyth County to the late Willie and Eleanor Gabard. Dr. Pope received her undergraduate nursing education degree from UNC Charlotte and her master's and doctorate degrees from UNC Greensboro. Dr. Pope had recently retired from Forsyth Tech as Dean of Health Technologies after a long and distinguished career. She touched the lives of countless young people through her passion for education in nursing and other health related fields. Bonnie was a loyal and faithful member of Konnoak Hills Moravian Church where she served on many boards, sang in the choir and played in the band. Bonnie loved everything Moravian; especially playing in the band for the Easter Sunrise Service and helping to make chicken pies with her dear church friends two times a year. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Billie Bridges; nephew, Brian Bridges and her precious daschund, Abigail. She is survived by her husband and best friend, Randy of the home; nephews, Brad Bridges and fiancée Laura Coyle and Matthew Bridges and wife Meghan; great nieces Madeline, Abby, Ava and Emmy and a great nephew, Tyler all of Tampa FL. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Konnoak Hills Moravian Church with Rev. John D. Rights officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the general fund of Konnoak Hills Moravian Church. Her husband would like to extend a heartfelt debt of gratitude to three special friends, Teresa Smith, Linda Latham and Jan Overman for all their love and support. (Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel)
