Mrs. Bonnie Sue Perrell Landreth, 71, succumbed to pancreatic cancer at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home on March 28, 2021 and is now in the more immediate presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Bonnie was born to the late Barney Lee and Rachel Sink Perrell on January 11, 1950 in Forsyth County.
In addition to her parents, Bonnie was predeceased by her brother, Gary Lee Perrell. She is survived by her husband of 50+ years, Joel M. (Joe) Landreth and her sister Judy Ann Perrell Long, along with several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and a great-great niece and great-great nephew. Also, there are several very special girls who are “daughters” to her, Aparna, Kathy, Anshu, and Chiun.
Bonnie’s working career was varied, challenging and exciting. She was often heard saying that she really didn’t know what she wanted to be when she grew up. She worked in secretarial and administrative positions, was an X-ray Technologist, a real estate agent, obtained a carpentry certificate from Forsyth Tech and with her husband, built their house, and completed her working career as a Registered Nurse after graduating nursing school, with honors, from Winston-Salem State University.
In addition to Winston-Salem State University, Bonnie attended Parkland High School, Elon University and Forsyth Technical Community College. She was very active in the Hopewell Moravian Congregation growing up, and in the Friedberg Moravian Congregation in her adult life.
She had many talents including carpentry, stained glass creations, warm glass creations, sewing and quilting. Not to mention cooking and baking. Moravian sugar cake was a specialty. She also participated in numerous medical, building and storm clean up mission efforts both national and international.
A memorial service will be held in her honor 11:00 AM Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Friedberg Moravian Church, officiated by the Rev. James C. Newsome, Jr., the Rev. Dan Nelson, and the Rt. Rev. G.
