Bonnie Beane Black

Bonnie Jean Beane Black of Winston-Salem joined her Lord on Saturday, January 31, 2015. She was born in Forsyth County on January 15, 1934 to Ardenis and Lillith Beane. She was a graduate of Mocksville High School and an active member of Antioch Baptist Church, serving as church clerk, assistant teacher, and on various committees. During this time, she also directed many weddings for family and friends. Ms. Black retired from New York Life Insurance in 1989 as Office Manager with 28 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Mosell, Mitchell, and Ronald Beane; a sister, Fannie Younts; and a stepson, Kenneth Black. Surviving are a precious son and daughter-in-law, Danny Ray and Margie Leonard; two lovely granddaughters, Kelly Myers (Jason), and Amy Williams; four great grandchildren, Gage and Keaton Williams, Tucker and Kelsey Myers, the pride of her life. Also surviving are her former husband and friend, D.M. ""Pete"" Black; beloved step-children, Beverly Edwards, Carol Leamon (Mike), and Charles ""Buddy"" Black (Maggie); six step-grandchildren, Kacie Shaver, Stephanie Troche (Steven), Lisa Hunt (Bryan), Chance Black, Lauren Mauldin (James), and Kristen Black; and ten step-great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Pauline Hendrix; and a brother, Neal Beane. Loving to travel, she considered it a privilege to have Shirley Sheets and Thelma Mathis as her traveling partners, and her entire church family as friends. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 4 at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Brett Kitko officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church, 910 Palmer Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
