Bonnie Sue Armour, 88, in Clemmons, NC peacefully departed this earth to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, August 11, 2023. It gives the family great joy to know she has been reunited with her late husband Max Armour, her mother Sarah Estelle Jones, her twin sister Betty Lou Nelson, and her younger sister Barbara Jean Sanders.
Born in Moberly, Missouri on June 17, 1935, the news of Bonnie and her identical twin sister’s birth spread quickly through the town. Her younger years were spent in Moberly, Rock Springs, Wyoming, where the family moved for coal mining opportunities, and Kansas City, Missouri.
Due to her multi-talented and extremely creative nature, Bonnie found herself throughout the years pursuing a wide variety of career choices. She worked as a secretary at Waddell & Reed Financial Advisors in Kansas City, Missouri and at Kimport Dolls in Independence, Missouri. In 1973, she moved to Arlington, Texas to be closer to her twin sister, enabling them to go into a quilling and framing business together. Later on, Bonnie was one of the first women to be hired as an insurance agent and worked with Allstate Insurance, where she remained until she retired.
She had numerous interests in interior design, and was highly consulted for her particular expertise in window treatments. Bonnie could always be found working on a knitting or crocheting project. In later years, she loved making clothes for her grandchildren, afghans & tablecloths for her family, and knitted caps that were donated to the local hospital for babies born prematurely. In 2008, she began volunteer tutoring a kindergarten student in the WSFCS. She and MyAngel Flowers shared a family-like bond that continues to this day.
Bonnie leaves behind two daughters, Brenda Herman (husband Jerry) of Clemmons, NC and Kimberly Jaska, of Ross, Texas, five grandchildren, Kendra Herman, Joel Herman (wife Julie), Anastasia Castro (husband Rey). Abigail Raterman (husband Josh), and Nicholas Jaska. She was blessed to be called Bobo by her six great grandchildren, Carson Olvis (husband Cade), Jonah Herman, Jackson Herman, Cooper Herman, Cameron Herman, and October Raterman, and one great-great granddaughter, Zoe Olvis.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. A private family celebration of life will take place on Saturday, August 19, 2023.
