“I’ve had a good life!”~Bobby Lee Southern

Mr. Bobby Lee Southern, 88, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2021 after a period of declining health. Bobby was born on July 2, 1932, in Winston-Salem to Grady Lee and Arrella Byrd Southern. He was a United States Army veteran, and he was employed by and retired from Western Electric where he was a quality control supervisor. Bobby enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf, his antique cars, and genealogy. Bobby is survived by his devoted  wife of almost 60 years, Linda Barringer Southern; his son Chris Southern; his daughter Terri (Jay) Carroll; his son David (Christi) Southern; his daughter Belinda (Brandon) Ellington; 6 grandchildren, Candice(Tim), Spencer (Amanda), Parker (Sarah), Conner, Bailee, and Braydon; and 2 great-grandchildren, Lucas and Waylon. A graveside service will be held in Bobby’s honor at 11:00 on Friday, May 14, 2021, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Walkertown, NC, with Reverend Justin Lowe officiating.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sedge Garden United Methodist Church, 794 Sedge Garden Road, Kernersville, NC 27284, or Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Ln, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Bobby loved life, and he lived it with positivity, kindness and compassion for others. To the end he was making sure others were okay with his calming reassurance, and he always had an uplifting word. The family is cherishing his life here on earth and celebrating that he has stepped into eternity with his Savior Jesus Christ.
