WINSTON-SALEM- ""He's knocking at your door, so listen."" Rev. 3:20 Mr. Bobby Eugene Shackleford, 71, of Winston-Salem, went home to be with his Lord, Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. Bobby was born March 10, 1938 in Williamston-Anderson County, SC, to the late John & Eva Pittman Shackleford. Bobby was a loving husband to the love of his life, Frances ""Pudding"", a loving father to his daughter, the apple of his eye, Renee', and a wonderful friend to everyone he met. He was an avid songwriter all his life and played music at Hillbilly Hideaway with his good friend, Sam Bray and The HiTech Hillbillies. He retired from Duke Energy Steam Plant with 24 years of service. Bobby was President of the Board of Directors and a member of the City View Volunteer Fire Department with over 36 years of service. He attended Gospel Light Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers. Surviving are his wife of 46 years of a wonderful marriage, Frances McCollum Shackleford, of the home; a daughter, Renee' S. Shipley and husband, Glen, of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Ethel Duncan, of Belton, SC, and Lois Grant, of Greenville, SC; one brother, Melvin Shackleford, of Pelzer, SC and several loving nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with the Dr. Bobby Roberson and Rev Barry Clement officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 pm on Monday, February 22, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Derrick Davis Cancer Center - Forsyth Medical Center, 3333 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 and City View Volunteer Fire Department, 4664 Old Belews Creek Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
