Chicago - Mr. Bobby Lee King, son of the late Rev. Nathaniel J. King Sr. and Chrissie Martin King, was born December 9, 1936 in Guilford County.  He was educated in the Guilford County Schools and was a graduate of Laughlin High School in 1956.  He departed this life on Monday, November 11, 2019 at Kindred Hospital in Hammond, IN after a brief illness.

Bobby was a life member of Warrensville Church of God in Stokesdale, NC where he taught Sunday School.  He enjoyed working with his father selling produce and snowballs and helping in the family business. He was also an avid baseball player on the Stokesdale Baseball Team.  He was employed by Lorillard Tobacco Company until his move to the Midwest where he continued his produce career with A&P and Food Basket Grocery.

Bobby spent his life doing what he loved to do, which is extraordinarily love and take care of his family, drive the school bus, read the newspaper, fry fish, watch sports, and play the lottery.

He was currently employed by A.M. Bus Company for 19 years where he continued his love for driving the bus until he fell ill. He spent his life doing what he loved until he was hospitalized on October 7, 2019.

Bobby married his childhood sweetheart, Shirley Crawford, and to this union 3 children were born, Andre, Angela and Deborah.

In 1974, Bobby moved to Chicago, where he later met and married Beverly Smith. She had Chris and Petra and to this union, Jonathan was born.

After Beverly went to her heavenly home, Bobby later met and married Patricia Jackson.  She had 4 children; Nina, Terrie, Detrick and Willie.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Andre DeCosta King; his brother, Nathaniel King, Jr “Sonny”; his sisters, Dorothy King DeCosta, and Artis King Ludd.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Patricia, of the home; his daughters, Angela King Wall (Michael) of High Point, NC, and Deborah King of the home; his son, Jonathan King of California; sisters, Evelyn K. Warren of Greensboro, NC, Virginia K Vaughn of Kernersville, NC, Carolyn K. Hines (Ray) of Kernersville, NC, Camella K. Flowers (Thomas) of Tamarac, FL; sister in law, Dorothy Spruill (Jaycee); daughter- in-law, Alice King; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.  The family wanted to mention a few special people in Bobby’s life; brother-in-law, Dr. Kenneth Smith; sister-in-law, Gloria  “Peggy” Fields and the entire Smith Family, sister-in-law, Carol Cheston; and co-worker and best friend, Homer “Bud” Eatman (Novetta); cousins, Atha Carroll, and Nannie Martin; Lillie Mae Frazier Moore; along with two special God daughters, Jessie Byrd and Debra Andrews.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel. Burial will follow at Stokesdale Church of God. The family will receive friends from 11:00 - 11:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to www.earlier.org (Friends for an Earlier Breast Cancer Test)
