Bobby Lee Hayes Sr.

KERNERSVILLE - Mr. Bobby Lee Hayes Sr., 70, passed away Saturday November 19, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born March 4, 1941 in Derby, Va. to the late Nola Mahan and Gabriel Hayes. Mr. Hayes was the current President of the Kernersville Civitan Club and was an active member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church. Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Parsons Hayes, of 49 years. Surviving are one son, Bobby Hayes, and wife Margaret; one daughter, Tracy Pearce, and husband James, all from Kernersville; one grandson, Evan Pearce; three granddaughters, Malinda Hayes, Laken Pearce and Gabrielle Pearce; and a brother, Jerry Hayes. Mr. Hayes began his career as a fingerprint specialist with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C. He later went on to serve as Director of Business Services for the Transylvania County School System, Director of Financial Affairs at Brevard College, and Vice President for Financial Affairs at High Point University. Following his retirement, Mr. Hayes authored one book, Canary in a Coal Mine, and had just completed a soon-to-be published sequel. A funeral service will be conducted 6:30 PM Tuesday November 22, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Dr. Bonnie Harris and Dr. Hal Warlick officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Pine Grove United Methodist Church at 1018 Piney Grove Road, Kernersville, NC.
