Bobby Eugene Eaton, Sr.

Summerfield - Mr. Bobby Eugene Eaton, 66, of Summerfield, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 27, 2008. He was born July 26, 1942 in Forsyth County to Oscar Franklin Eaton and Della May Boles Eaton. Mr. Eaton retired from Watkins Motor Lines in 2005. He was known to his fellow truckers as ""Country"". Mr. Eaton was a 1960 graduate of Kernersville High School in Kernersville, NC. After a few jobs, trucking became his career. He was a member of Teamsters Local 391. Throughout his career, he worked for many Union Companies and at last, Watkins. Mr Eaton was a dedicated Christian and a member of Pleasant Ridge Christian Church in Greensboro, NC. He was a generous and outgoing person who never met a stranger. He was a loving father, neighbor and friend. Mr. Eaton will be missed by many. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ottis Eaton, Clemon Eaton and Herbert Eaton. Mr. Eaton is survived by his wife, Joan Bennett Eaton; his daughter, Tammy Eaton Martin and husband Kelvin; his son, Bobby Eugene Eaton, Jr. and wife, Lisa Jones Eaton, all of Summerfield, NC; three grandchildren, William ""Alex"" Eaton, Adam Lee Eaton and Elizabeth Lee Martin; a sister, Dorothy Eaton Burton and husband, Ernest ""Parker"" Burton and sister-in-laws, Ruth Eaton of Winston-Salem and Hazel Eaton of Kernersville. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Monday, December 29, 2008 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Pleasant Ridge Christian Church in Greensboro, with the Rev. Joe West officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Eaton will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family would like to thank all our family, friends and Mr. Eaton's fishing buddies for their thoughtfulness. A special ""Thank You"" to the doctors and nurses on the 3rd floor Cancer Center at Wesley Long Hospital for all their caring and understanding.
