Bobbie Bynum Olsen

Mrs. Bobbie Bynum Olsen, 84, of Bermuda Run, and formerly Orleans, MA, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 at Bermuda Village. She was born April 16, 1932 in Alabama to the late David King and Rachel Wright Bynum. Mrs. Olsen is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Olsen and sister, Mary Moore. She is survived by her son, David Olsen and wife Diane of Lewisville; daughter, Lisa Kirkland M.D. and husband Daniel of Bel Air, MD; five grandchildren, Emma Rose, Sophie and Benjamin Olsen and Alexander and Nicholas Kirkland; sister, Marie Saint and husband Vance of Scottsboro, AL; two sister-in-laws, Ruth Olsen Johnson and husband Axel and Vickie Olsen Michael and husband Bing; and numerous extended family. Bobbie was a devoted wife and loving mother. She and Herbert were happily married for 49 years prior to his passing. In addition to being a homemaker, Bobbie worked as an insurance agent until her retirement. Throughout her life, Bobbie was known for her incredible generosity, volunteering her time and energy with several organizations on Cape Cod, MA and most recently in North Carolina. She enjoyed gardening, baking, figure skating, rooting for the Boston Red Sox, and spending time with family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Bermuda Village, 142 Bermuda Village Drive, Bermuda Run, with Rev. Paula Northrup officiating and a reception immediately following. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Bermuda Village for their care and kindness during her residency there. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, Habitat for Humanity, 341 Witt Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
