Billy Kirkman Transou

Billy Kirkman Transou, 77, of Winston-Salem, passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on Thursday, November 3, 2011. Bill was born in Winston-Salem on October 15, 1934 to the late Fred Roscoe Transou and Kate Todd Transou. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sue Crater Transou; sons, Joseph (Joey) Kirkman Transou and Todd Eugene Transou, all of Winston-Salem; a sister, Betty Transou Shelton of Wilkesboro; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bill graduated from South Fork High School. Bill and his wife Sue built, owned, and operated various businesses through the years, Liberty Tile and Floor Covering, B&R Spray Insulation, Forsyth Roofing Systems, and for the last 15 years, Piedmont Realty Group, Inc. where he worked until being admitted to the hospital last week. Bill was a member and past master of West Bend Masonic Lodge No. 434. Bill was a life long member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church, serving on boards and committees through out his life. He is remembered for his love for his family, his church, and his many friends. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. at New Philadelphia Moravian Church on Sunday, November 6 with the Rev. Dr. Worth Green and the Rev. Dr. David Marcus III officiating. Burial will follow in New Philadelphia God's Acre. A reception in the fellowship hall will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Philadelphia Moravian Church, 4440 Country Club Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27104. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
