Billy Gray Russell

Mr. Billy Gray Russell, 82, of Winston-Salem passed away May 19, 2010 at his residence. He was born September 22, 1927 in Yadkin County to the late Charles Gray and Mamie Bovender Russell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Roma Hailey Russell and a brother and three sisters. Mr. Russell was a member of Southside Baptist Church and retired from McLean Trucking Company with 40 years of service. Mr. Russell served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII. He was a graduate of Gray High School and was an avid golfer and a Lions Club Pin Trader. He was a member of the Lions Club International, The China Marines Association, The Veterans of Foreign War, and The Garden Club. Mr. Russell is survived by his loving wife, Carol E. Russell of the home; four sons, Michael Gray Russell and wife Sandra of Winston-Salem, Terry Nolan Russell and wife Bonnie of Sanford, Jeffrey Ross Russell and wife Christine of Houston, TX, and William Scott Russell and wife Tricia of Newport News, VA; He is also survived by his five grandsons. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Max Furr officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday at the funeral home. ""Semper Fi""
