Bill Mitchell went home to glory Friday, January 1, 2021, after a brief battle with cancer. Bill was born in Winston-Salem on July 2, 1938, to Earnest and Sallie Boles Mitchell. He served in the US Army from 1960-1968 where he was stationed in Korea and Germany. Bill worked at RJ Reynolds and retired after 25 years. Bill married the love of his life, Carol, in 1982. After retiring from Reynolds, Bill worked as a CNA for Hospice and volunteered many hours with Senior Services. Bill was most passionate about his love of music. He played the piano, wrote songs, and sang with numerous groups throughout his life. Bill was also a great photographer. Some of his works are on display at the visitor center at Hanging Rock State Park.

Preceding Bill in death are his wife, Carol; his parents Earnest and Sallie; special uncle and aunt, Robah and Harriet Peacock who helped raise Bill; cousin (more like a brother) Lewis Peacock; brother, Harold Mitchell; and sister, Betty Wright. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Jimmy Mitchell; brother, Jim Mitchell; sisters, Mary Lou Atkins and Patsy Bullins; special nephew and caretaker, Brad Mitchell (Martha); cousin, Snooky Peacock; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held at Gardens of Memory – Walkertown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Scouts BSA Troop 408, 1155 Amanda Ln, Walnut Cove, NC 27052. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
