Billy Carroll Lyons

EAST BEND, NC-Mr. Billy Carroll Lyons, 78, of East Bend, NC, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Lyons was born on October 19, 1936, in Virginia to the late Charlie Clifton Lyons and Martha Louise Smith Lyons. Billy served his country in the United States Army. He retired as a diesel mechanic and following retirement he worked for the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lyons was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Jean Poole. Mr. Lyons is survived by his wife, Emma Lunsford Lyons of the home; two sons, Tommy Clifton Lyons (Tammy) of Arcadia, NC and Tony Lyons (Dana) of Lewisville, NC; two step-children, Wanda Morefield (Everette) of East Bend, NC and Randy Brown of Yadkinville; three step-grandsons, Matthew Brown of Winston-Salem, Jonathan Morefield (Tammy) of Walnut Cove, NC and William Brown of Yadkinville, NC; two step-great-granddaughters, Laci and Ellie Morefield of Walnut Cove, NC; two brothers, James Lyons (Ann) of Eden, NC and Wayne Lyons (Janet) of East Bend, NC; three sisters, Shelby Willard (Ken) East Bend, NC, Sharon Jones (John) of Kernersville, NC, and Joan Hamby (Steve) of Tobaccoville, NC; and numerous other loving relatives. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at Forbush Friends Meeting Cemetery in East Bend, NC with Pastor Leon Wishon officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Billy's caretaker, Carlene Carroll for the compassionate care she provided to Billy during his illness.
