Billy Grey Jenkins, 76, of Winston-Salem passed away December 8, 2010 after a courageous battle that he never gave up till the Lord said come home. He was born January 19, 1934 in Surry County to Herman Oscar Jenkins and Lorene Tise Jenkins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Smitherman Jenkins; his parents; and a brother, ""Junior"" Herman Oscar Jenkins, Jr. He was a loving father and is survived by a daughter, Roberta ""Bobbie"" Jenkins of the home; sons, Randy Jenkins and Billy Wayne Jenkins, both of Winston-Salem; a sister, Audrey Jenkins Joiner of Elkin; nephew, Roger Jenkins of Elkin; nieces, Libby Swaim and Linda Phillips, both of Elkin; and his constant companion riding on his scooter, Blackfoot. Mr. Jenkins proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. He was a member of Advent Moravian Church since 1962 where he served on the board of trustees and as a coffee maker for lovefeast services as health permitted. He retired from Taylor Brothers and Griffith Volunteer Fire Department in Winston-Salem. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at Advent Moravian Church in Winston-Salem, on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family.
