Billy Ray Hutchens, 77, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, October 24, 2014.
He was born on June 14, 1937 to Wesley James Hutchens and Cynthia Julia Hampton Hutchens in Yadkin County. Bill was a graduate of Mineral Springs High School and served his country as a member of the National Guard. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 32 years of service. He and his wife, Cleo, are members of Northwoods Baptist Church where Bill faithfully served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and choir director. Bill had a love for music, machines, and corny jokes. He loved nothing more than to see his friends and family smile; continually finding ways to make them laugh. Bill was a man of strength and silence, character and integrity, generosity and peace. Above all, he knew and loved Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are his loving wife of over 51 years, Cleo Clark Hutchens; daughters, Tracy H. Harmon (Todd), and Sandra Hutchens; grandchildren, Katie and Clark Harmon, and Amanda Ball; brother, Don Hutchens; niece, Cindy Sloan (Joe); nephew, Tom Hutchens (Elisha); and many other nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, October 27th at Northwoods Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Thompson and Pastor Frank Shumate officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel on Sunday, October 26th from 6-8 PM.
