Billy Carroll Henderson left to join his heavenly family on December 31, 2014 after a period of declining health. He was born to Luther Parks Henderson and Mitty Holcomb Henderson on January 9, 1930 in Winston-Salem. Bill started working for Western Electric/Lucent Technologies at the age of 17, and retired with 47 years of service. He was a life-long learner who also imparted his knowledge to others. A deacon at Mineral Springs Baptist Church, Bill lead Sunday School classes and Bible studies. He was also a scout master, and shared his talent for making crafts. Bill's handcrafted wooden toys were treasured gifts for children and adults alike. He also enjoyed volunteering in his daughter, Deborah's kindergarten and first grade classrooms at Brunson Elementary. But nothing surpassed his love for his family. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his much loved son, Steven Carroll Henderson; brothers, David Elwin Henderson, Hal Henderson, L.P. Henderson, Jr; and much loved sisters, Vetral Henderson Owens and Madge Henderson. Remaining to carry on, are his loving wife of 65 years, Earline Teague Henderson and beloved daughter, Deborah Lynn Henderson; as well as sisters, Margie Henderson Freeman, Ilene Henderson Peddycord, and Lucy Henderson. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Gus Thomas and Dr. Cecil Cave officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:00-2:00 pm.
