Billy Reid “Bill” Sealey, 83, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Bill was born in Forsyth County on May 2, 1941, to Ira F. Sealey and Allene Reid Sealey. In the earlier part of his career, he was employed with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. for a while, then drove for McLean Trucking Co. until they closed. He then worked for Johnny Arant, Vulcan Materials, Indera Mills Textile Co. and several other companies until his retirement. He earned his 55 Year Safe Driving Award. Bill was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 391.
Bill's hobbies included woodworking, working on cars, fishing and the outdoors. He enjoyed spending time and traveling with his family and friends and took many trips over the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving family includes his two sons, Bobby Sealey (Shannon) and Donald Sealey (Christine); five grandchildren, Ginger Bennett (Bernie), Dana Sealey, Brittany Smith (Zach), Bobby Ray Sealey Jr. (Meghan) and Sarah Salmeron (Kevin); 10 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Sue Jarvis (Buster), Nancy Davis, and Ira F. Sealey, Jr. (Joella); three nieces and one nephew; and many extended family and friends. Bill also had a longtime companion and partner of over 32 years, Betty Smith.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024 from 9:30 - 10:30 AM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. A graveside service will immediately follow the visitation at 11:00 AM at Westlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel, with Pastor Jason Holley officiating.
Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the family.
