Bill Thaddeus Stanley, Sr.

Mr. Bill Thaddeus Stanley, Sr. age 87 passed away Tuesday afternoon at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Bill was born in Surry County, May 21, 1924 to Eugene Soloman Stanley and Mary Lee Coe Stanley. He was a member of Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church in Winston-Salem and a master salesman. Bill was an accomplished Blue Grass musician and seemed to have never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents Bill was preceded in death by two brothers: John R. Stanley and Jim G. Stanley. Surviving are his wife of 65 years of marriage; Peggy Stanley of the home. One daughter; Beverly Mendenhall of Winston-Salem and one son; Bill T. (Kim) Stanley, Jr. of Stokesdale. Two grandsons: Jason Mendenhall and Bill T. (Thad) Stanley III. Special friend; Rocky Orrell. Two sisters: Mary Nell Cole of Mt. Airy and Kay Smith of Elkin. Many nieces and nephews. Celebration of Life for Mr. Stanley will be held Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church in Winston-Salem by Rev. Bob Lee. Mr. Stanley will lie-in-state at the church from 12:00 until time for the funeral service. Burial will follow at White Plains Friends Meeting Cemetery in White Plains. Military burial honors will be conducted by Memorial Honor Guard VFW Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain.
