Bill Hayden Hayes, Sr.

Bill H. Hayes Sr., 94, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully Friday, August 30, 2024, at his home. 

Bill was born January 8, 1930, in Hazard, KY, to Boggs Hayes and Edith Ledford Hayes. He was a dedicated member of Lewisville Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1947 to 1969 and was a Special Agent in the Air Force Office of Special Investigations from 1954-1969. Bill was employed by Wachovia Bank and Trust from 1969 to 1992 where he worked first as Fraud Control Manager, and then was promoted to Vice President and Security Director from 1985 to 1992.

Bill was a life member and Past Master of Groveland Masonic Lodge in Groveland, Florida; founder and life member of Kings Ridge Masonic Club in Clermont, Florida; member of Masonic Lodge No. 134 in Mocksville, North Carolina; life member of the Scottish Rite in Florida; and a life member of the Shrine Temple in Charlotte, NC. When living in Florida, he enjoyed golfing and fishing. His hobbies included decoy collecting, waterfowl and bird carving, and painting. 

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Janice Hux Hayes; and his son, Howard Wayne Hayes. 

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Betty Conrad Allgood-Hayes; his son, Bill H. Hayes Jr.; granddaughters, Lori Hayes, and Beth Baaden; and his sister, Freda Hicks.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Monday, September 2, 2024, at Lewisville Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Barnes officiating. A private burial will take place at the church cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends from 5-7PM Sunday, September 1, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
