Beverly A. (Horne) LeMay, 76, formerly of Glastonbury and Newington, Connecticut and Hatfield, Massachusetts, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023 at Bermuda Village Retirement Center (Bermuda Run, NC) peacefully with her daughter by her side after a brave fight against ALS.
She was born on February 9, 1947 in Northampton, Massachusetts and was the daughter of the late Everett O. and the late Jeannette A. (Hall) Horne. Beverly was raised in Amherst, Massachusetts where she attended local schools. She was a graduate of Greenfield Community College's Liberal Arts Program (Greenfield, MA) and Cooley Dickinson Hospital's School of Nursing Class of 1969 (Northampton, MA).
She worked as a registered nurse for 42 years. She lived in Connecticut for 28 years and then moved to North Carolina to be closer to her daughter and her grandsons. Beverly enjoyed traveling, shopping, dining out with family and friends, music, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren and grand-dogs.
She leaves behind two daughters: Ms. Gina Arcand of Glastonbury, Connecticut and Mrs. Lisa Lessard and her husband, Mike, of Rural Hall, North Carolina and four grandchildren: Mike Jr., Jake and Brandon Lessard of Rural Hall, North Carolina and Sarina Arcand of Glastonbury, Connecticut. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Mary Horne.
Beverly’s family would like to thank the Neuromuscular Center at Hospital For Special Care in New Britain, Connecticut, the Duke ALS Clinic in Durham, North Carolina, Trellis Supportive Care and Hospice in Winston-Salem and Bermuda Run and Bermuda Village Retirement Center in Bermuda Run, North Carolina for their support and care.
Beverly’s funeral memorial will be held in Massachusetts.
Beverly has asked that donations be made in her honor to local ALS Associations in lieu of flowers.
