Betty Colleen 'Connie' Sink Woosley

""Morning Has Broken"" for Betty Colleen (Connie) Sink Woosley, who passed away early Sunday, April 21, 2013. Colleen was born in Winston-Salem on September 8, 1929, to Roy Arvol Sink and Betty Serena Arrington Sink and graduated from Arcadia High School in Davidson County in 1945. On November 28, 1946, Colleen married Bruce Webster Woosley and lived in the Washington Park neighborhood of Winston-Salem for 36 years where they raised their family. Connie worked in retail all her adult life and retired from Thalhimers Department Store after 20 years of service. After the death of her husband, she moved to a condominium in the Crosswinds community of Winston-Salem where she lived for another 20 years cherishing friendships with her neighbors and serving a term as president of the homeowners' association. Connie enjoyed traveling with her family members and friends, Erma Adkins and Gladys Seawell. She especially enjoyed her trips to Yellowstone National Park and New Orleans. She looked forward to the bus tours she took around the country, particularly to the New England states, and she was so excited to be able to take a WSJS cruise on the Rhine River and visit several European countries. Colleen has been a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Davidson County since her marriage. She taught Sunday School classes, was active in Vacation Bible School, and spearheaded a committee for the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the church in 1985. She continued to enjoy visits, calls, and cards from her church family and minister and appreciated all the love they showed her. Although Connie volunteered tirelessly with the PTA and classrooms in the local school system where her children attended, was involved with the Boy Scouts and the Sunset Garden Club, it was the Girl Scouts that became her focus. She started as a Brownie leader for her daughters, meeting at Home Moravian Church, and worked her way up to serve terms as president of the Pilot Area Girl Scout Council, as well as, the Tarheel Triad Girl Scout Council. Connie had been an adult Girl Scout for 59 years and received many awards, including two ""Thanks"" Badges. She enjoyed attending annual Girl Scout conferences all over the country and most recently had devoted her time to the Juliette Low Preservation Society, better known as the ""Archives Committee"" for the Tarheel Triad Council. After her stroke in 2005, Colleen became a resident of Mallard Ridge Assisted Living of Clemmons, where she was known as ""Betty"". She made many new friends there with both the residents and caregivers. In November of 2011, she became a resident of Alston Brook Nursing Center of Lexington, in the Lillian's Way and Granny‘s Place units. In January of 2013, Hospice of Davidson County became a partner in Betty's care. The family would like to thank the staffs of all these facilities and agencies and all her friends and caregivers for their extraordinary love, care, and devotion. Colleen was predeceased by her husband, Bruce Woosley and a daughter, Debby Woosley Fix Casey. She is survived by one daughter, Patricia W. Perryman and husband, George, and two sons, Steve Woosley and wife, Kim, and Craig Woosley. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Robert Fix, Jr. and wife, Neely, Serena Perryman Ring and husband, Brad, Zach Perryman and wife, Kate, Tara Woosley Sink and husband, Wesley, Elizabeth Woosley Bragg and husband, Josh, Allyson Woosley, and Nina Woosley. She has anticipated and loved each and every one of her eight great grandchildren: Danielle and Trey Fix, Zachary Perryman, McKenna Sink, Levi Ring, Colson and Finley Sink, and Parker Bragg. Other surviving family members include brothers, Carol Sink and wife, Jo, of Plant City, Florida, and Lannie Sink and wife, Vicki, of Arcadia, NC and her sister, Gail Higgins and husband, Charles, of Treasure Island, Florida; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Woosley of Winston-Salem, and Gail W.
