Mrs. Betty Ann Thomas Vestal, 75, passed away December 2, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Alexander County to the late William Thomas and Florence Marshall Thomas. She grew up and was raised in The Children's Home of Lexington. She considered them as her family throughout her life. Betty retired from R.J. Reynolds with 34-1/2 years' service. In addition, she worked for 10 years at Walmart. She was a faithful member of Stanleyville Baptist Church for more than 35 years. She was known for her chicken pies she made for many people. She loved volunteering her time for those who needed her help, including The United Way, And Rural Hall Fire Department Auxiliary. She is preceded in death by her parents; Son, Steven Ray Vestal; four brothers; Vance Merle Thomas, Cleve Thomas, John Thomas, and James Thomas; sister, Margaret Woods. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Kenneth Gray Vestal Sr.; two sons, Kenneth Gray Vestal Jr., and Randy Vestal; Sister Brenda Land; two brothers, Jed Thomas, and Harry Mcelory. A Funeral Service will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Stanleyville, with Pastor Eddie Honeycutt officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park, 3771 Yadkinville Road, Winston-Salem, N.C. The family will receive friends Friday evening at the church from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M.
