Betty Sue Draughn Allred

Mrs. Betty Sue Draughn Allred of Pfafftown, NC, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023, after a period of declining health at Wake Forest Medical Center. She was born in Surry County on June 25, 1947, to the late Archie Draughn and Connie Nichols Draughn. Betty Sue attended North Surry High School and Appalachian State University. Her professional career was a teacher with the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools at Paisley Middle/Junior High. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook. She used those talents to treat her family, friends, and to inspire her son in his culinary career.  She is survived by her devoted husband of fifty-three years, James Allred of the home; a son, Jamie Allred of Cornelia, GA; a brother, Conrad Draughn (Donna) of Mount Airy, NC; and a sister, Donna Biggerstaff (Gene) of Vale, NC. In addition, she is survived by her two nephews, Isaac Draughn (Kendal) and Jacob Draughn (Amanda), all of Mount Airy, NC; two nieces, Jessica Biggerstaff (Timothy Tresohlavy) of Raleigh, NC and Trinity Bharath (Veda) of Washington, DC; and several great nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Young at Hearts of Jefferson Christian Church, 8200 Jefferson Church Road, Rural Hall, NC, 27045.
