Betty Byrd Strader

Mrs. Betty Byrd Strader, 84, of Winston-Salem died Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born January 29, 1928 in Forsyth County, the daughter of the late Richard and Hallie Frazier Byrd. Mrs. Strader was a member of Grace Baptist Temple where she was active in the DMA. She retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company following 30 plus years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Strader; a brother, Jack Byrd and a sister, Ruby Hord. Survivors include one son, Steven G. Strader and wife, Pat of Rolesville, two daughters, Carol S. Everhart and Melissa A. Strader of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Brenda R. Fochtman and husband, James of Williamsburg, VA and Christy Everhart Pinckney and husband, Jeff of Winston-Salem; four great grandchildren, Michael and Joseph Fochtman and Jordin and Levi Pinckney; one brother, Richard G. Byrd and wife, Shirley of Winston-Salem; and two sisters, Dorothy Estes and husband, Bill of Cookeville, TN and Faye Anderson and husband, Don of Winston-Salem. During the past several years her life revolved around her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 2:00 PM at Westlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel in Clemmons. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the mausoleum chapel and following the service at the home of Christy Everhart Pinckney.
