Betty Ragsdale Stonestreet

Mrs. Betty Lou Ragsdale Stonestreet, 82, of Winston-Salem, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 following a courageous four-year battle with lung cancer. She was born on January 31, 1929 to the late N. D. and Rea Ragsdale. She was an active member of Bethany Baptist Church for more than 49 years. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a shining example of an obedient servant. She is preceded in death along with her parents by her loving husband, J. Van Stonestreet; sisters, Josephine Hauser, Louise Stafford, Edith Lakey, Mary Nell Niday, Geneva Ragsdale, and Sylvia Clark; brothers, Paul Ragsdale, Willie Ragsdale, and an infant brother. Surviving are her three daughters, Janet Carter and husband Mike of Winston-Salem, Martha McIntosh, and Carol Powers and husband Adam all of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren, Drew Carter and wife Mandy of Harrisburg, NC, Matthew Carter and wife Melissa of Greenville, NC, Katie McIntosh of New York, NY, Sarah McIntosh of Virginia Beach, VA and Addison Powers of Winston-Salem; one sister, Thelma Ragsdale; two great-grandsons, Brooks and Van Carter. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 27, 2011 at Bethany Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at the church Friday morning. Burial will follow the service at Forsyth Memorial Park.
