Mrs. Betty Jean Overby Smith, 78, went home to be with the Lord, on Friday, June 28, 2013. She was born in Forsyth Co. on September 3, 1934 the daughter of the late Roscoe D. Overby and Lottie Sedina Fowler Overby. Mrs. Smith was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed deeply by all who knew her. She retired from Forsyth Co. Schools as a school bus driver with 32 years of service. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Smith and her four brothers, Tom, Ralph, Norman and Colon Overby. Mrs. Smith is survived by two daughters, Robin Holder and husband Danny of Walnut Cove and Renee Wood and husband Micky of Winston-Salem, a son, Randy Smith and wife Shirley of King, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and a step-sister, Debbie Everette. She is also survived by her special cat, Misty. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 Monday evening at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. The family would like to thank her dear and special friend, Ann Mabe, for everything she did to help with their mother.
