Betty Walker Slater, formerly of Pleasantview Drive was born to Elbert and Mabel Lancaster Walker on April 3, 1928 and died Saturday, March 20, 2009. She retired from Credit Bureau after 34 years of serivce and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are a daughter, Dana (David) Weldner of Pinnacle; two sons, Randy (Stephanie) Slater of Winston-Salem and John (Jeanette) Slater of Rural Hall; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a sister, Patsy (Bob) Messick of Lewisville; and an aunt, Kathryn Hendricks of Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Gardens of Walkertown with Rev. William Marr and Mr. Jeff Messick officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
