CLEMMONS - Our beloved mother took her place in heaven beside our father, Charlie Smith, on Friday, December 23, 2011 after bravely fighting an extended illness. She was born on March 28, 1938 to the late John Raymond Dowell and Eva Pearl Dowell in Yadkin County. She was also preceded in death by our stepfather and her loving husband Lt. Col. Maurice ""Rick"" Rishel, USAF retired. She is survived by her three daughters, Pamela Smith of Lexington, NC, Rebecca Smith of Winston-Salem, and Tracy Hamilton (Glenn) of Clemmons, NC; one granddaughter, Kelly Cheek of Clemmons, NC; two sisters, Peggy Patterson (Wayne) of East Bend, NC and Shirley Spillman of Yadkinville, NC; one brother, Bobby Dowell of Roanoke, VA. We would also like to thank our ""angel"" on earth, Lisa Perrell of Pilot Mountain, who was her loving C.N.A. throughout her illness. We would also like to thank her Hospice Home Care Team and the Doctors and nurses, especially Stephanie, of Arcadia Family Practice for their care and support throughout her illness. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Parklawn Memorial Park in the Resurrection Garden with Pastor Beau Mills officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Forsyth County, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
