Betty Poindexter Miller

Mrs. Betty Poindexter Miller, 81, of Lewisville passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Miller was born in Forsyth County on August 16, 1930 to William Sampson and Mary Stilley Poindexter. Mrs. Miller graduated from Clemmons High School and later attended Draughn's Business School. She retired from Wake Forest University Medical School with 23 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lindsay Franklin Miller, Jr.; five sisters, Mamie Sells, Edith Walker, Violet Rothrock, Shirley Watkins, and Ethel Brewer; and a brother, Bill Poindexter. Mrs. Miller is survived by her son, Lindsay F. Miller, III and his wife Judy of Oxford; a daughter, Veda Luka and husband Steve of Winston-Salem; her son, Tony Miller and wife Alice of Jacksonville; six grandchildren, Mary, Mikaela, Craig, Jaclyn, Denise, and Matthew; four great grandchildren, Emma, David, Katie, and Feliegh Kay; a brother, Bobby Poindexter; and a sister, Evelyn Boles of Winston-Salem. She was a member of Lewisville Baptist Church where she was also a very active member of the choir which brought her much joy. Mrs. Miller enjoyed spending time with her church family including the Lewisville Senior Citizens Club. She also enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels and other activities. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Lewisville Baptist Church with the Dr. Don Williams and Rev. Jo Bjorling officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Lewisville Baptist Church, 125 Lewisville-Clemmons Road, Lewisville, NC 27023 or to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
