Betty Marsh

Betty Jean (Chilton) Marsh, 88, of Winston-Salem, NC, peacefully passed away as a resident of Salemtowne Retirement Community on February 14, 2022.  Betty was born on January 4, 1934, to Dewey and Bertha (Jessup) Chilton in the Shoals Community of Pilot Mountain, NC.

After graduation from Pilot Mountain High School in 1952, she attended the Women’s College of Greensboro and went on to have a 30+ year career with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco in Winston-Salem as an Accounts Administrator.

She remained a life-long native of her beloved North Carolina, settling into the south side of Winston-Salem after marrying Luther Marsh, her husband of 49 years, who preceded her in death in 2000.

After retirement, she committed 25 years in volunteer service to Forsyth Medical Center and spent her free time enjoying fishing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Betty is survived by and will be greatly missed by her son; Randy (Barbara) Marsh of Birmingham, AL, daughter; Cathy (Robert) Davis of Charleston, SC; grandson; Lt Hayden (Ashley) Marsh, great-grandson; W.L. Marsh of Dahlgren, VA, siblings; Roland (Imogene) Chilton of Pilot Mountain, Otis (Carol) Chilton of Clemmons, NC, Judy (Jimmy) Melton of Rural Hall, NC; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at 2:00 PM, with a visitation one hour prior, with pastor Linda Browne officiating. Betty will be laid to rest at Parklawn Memorial Park following the service.
