Betty Rose Kunz, 86, formerly of Winston-Salem died Sunday, February 13, 2011. She was born on January 31,, 1925, in Bedford County, Pennsylvania to Catherine Wertz Rose and Luther Martin Rose. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles George Kunz in 2000. After graduating Summa Cum Laude in two years from Penn State University, Mrs. Kunz taught high school English in her hometown of Bedford, Pennsylvania. She served as a Town Moderator as well as President of the League of Women Voters in Dover, Massachusetts. While her husband worked in Iran, Mrs. Kunz mastered Farsi and taught English to Iranian students at Tehran University during the late 1970's. She is survived by three daughters, Catherine Kunz of New Hartford, New York, Jane Kunz and Liz Kunz both of Charlotte, North Carolina; two sons Thomas Kunz of Durham, North Carolina and Martin Kunz of Medfield, Massachusetts; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Clara Matthews of Spring Hill, Florida and Shirley Stufft of Columbia, South Carolina. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Lutheran Church of the Epiphany, 5220 Silas Creek Parkway. Entombment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
