Betty Ann Everhart Jones

Betty Ann Everhart Jones was born in Winston-Salem on May 1, 1931, and died on April 12, 2016. The daughter of Luther M. and Betty F. Everhart, she grew up in a large family of three sisters and two brothers in Waughtown and graduated from James A. Gray High School. Betty married Jack Hendricks Jones on February 26, 1950, and together they had four children. Jack passed away in 1993.

For more than 30 years, she operated Betty E. Jones Tax Service, preparing tax returns and providing accounting services for hundreds of clients, many of whom traveled from out of state. She retired in 1996. For the past 17 years, Betty had divided her time between her homes in Winston-Salem and Naples, FL. Her long-time partner, Pleasant Smith of Kernersville and Naples, passed away in 2014.

Betty's love of the beach was only surpassed by her devotion to her family. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, LeGrande Everhart and Bill Everhart, sisters-in-law Kathryn Everhart and Mabel Angel, and brothers-in-law Hersel Angel, Tom Hutchens and Ivan Page. She is survived by her children: J. Kim Jones (Camille) of Winston-Salem, Gregory L. Jones (Wendy) of Oak Ridge, Cindy J. Dickson (David) of Newton, and Susan J. Saintsing of Winston-Salem; grandchildren: Ashley J. Davis of Kernersville, Brittany J. Stegall (Justin) of Lexington, Emily S. Hogeboom (Jordan) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Carter Dickson and Jack Dickson, both of Houston, TX; great-grandchildren Everette Davis of Kernersville and Mia Hogeboom of Mt. Pleasant; sisters, Doris E. Hutchens of Winston-Salem, Maxine E. Page of Flagstaff, AZ, Judy E. Boteler (Bruce) of Roanoke, VA, and sister-in-law Donna Roberts (Jim) of Pataskula, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
