Mrs. Betty Ellis James, 89, passed away Monday, December 18, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Forsyth County on December 13, 1928 to the late William Eugene and Macie Canter Ellis. She was one of the last surviving charter members of Immanuel Baptist Church where she played the piano and organ for many years. She retired from Amp Inc. with several years of service. Preceding her in death was her husband, Henderson James and a son, Jerald James. Surviving is a daughter, Judi Arnett and husband, Bob; son, Bobby James; granddaughters, Shea Tomlinson and Lisa Rollings and husband, Brad; grandson, Michael James and wife, Shannon; several great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; brother, Gene Ellis and wife, Peggy; two sisters, Evelyn Yates and Nancy Ellis; several nieces and nephews; also surviving is a special friend, Richard Hanes and her beloved dog, "Stella." A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday December 22, 2017 at Immanuel Baptist Church with Pastor L.C. Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel.
