Betty Staley Matlock Hennings

Mrs. Betty Staley Matlock Hennings, 83, of Clemmons died Friday, April 20, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born October 15, 1928 in Forsyth County, the daughter of the late Dewey William and Etta Shermer Staley. Mrs. Hennings was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church and was retired from AMP. Following her retirement she volunteered at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She loved getting together and traveling with her many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald O. Matlock, Sr.; her second husband, Clarence ‘Red"" Hennings; and her brother, William Staley. Survivors include one son, Don Matlock, Jr. and wife, Joyce of Winston-Salem; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Throckmorton of Winston-Salem and Tammie Utt and husband, Tim of Kernersville; four grandchildren, Jody Kaye Sutton and husband, Scott of Matthews, Ellen Wessling and husband, Ken of Seattle, WA, Timothy Allen Utt, Jr. and wife, Tina of Lewisville and William Christopher Utt and wife, Tosha of Sulphur Springs, TX; six great grandchildren, Toby, Brianna, Ryan, Abby, Aidyn and Rylan; and one sister, Joan Brown and husband, Jr. of Winston-Salem. The funeral service will be conducted Monday at 1:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Richard Hicks officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Kate B.
