Mrs. Betty Louise Hawks Hauser, 71, was born June 18, 1946 to the late Winfred Burley Hawks and Gladys Mae Rippey Hawks in Carroll County, Virginia. She was married almost 50 years to her late husband H. Gray Hauser. In addition to her husband and parents Betty is preceded in death by a brother, Sterlin G. Hawks. She was a devoted employee of Wake Forest University Admissions Financial Aid Office for 37 years, before retiring to care for her husband. Betty was a long-time member of Bannertown Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, worked in Vacation Bible School and loved and cared for everyone else's children. She loved singing, baking, making salsa, gardening, shopping and spending time with friends and family until her health began to decline. A funeral service will be conducted 3:00 PM Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Bannertown Baptist Church with Brother Don Charles Jr. officiating. The committal service will directly follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, January 29, 2018 at the Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Cemetery Fund c/o Bannertown Baptist Church, 2300 Bannertown Church Road, Germanton, NC 27019. Many times she has thanked and showed her appreciation to the ones who cared for her when she wasn't able, drove her everywhere when she couldn't, ran her errands and got her groceries, took care of her home when things needed fixing, went on vacations and stayed by her side, was her "missing shoulder" to lean on, had fun girls days getting nails done and shopping, the Friday Night Gang, doing Word-Find books, Starbucks runs after doctor appointments, birthday celebration lunches, yard-sales and thrift shops, and carrying her when her body was so weak but from each one mostly just always being there and supporting her; Larry & JoAnn Boger, Jim & Linda Potts, R.T. Gordy, Sandra "Muffet" and Mike (Jasper) Hite and her special side-kick Stephanie "my little sweetheart " Hite. The family would also like to thank Melinda Cockerham, RN for showing such kindness to Betty and reassurance and support to us. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
