Betty Davis Hampton

WALKERTOWN - Betty Davis Hampton, age 78, died Friday, September 3, 2010, at Forsyth Medical Center. Betty was born on September 2, 1932, in Alleghany County, to the late John Henry and Carrie Shores Davis. She was a member of Loves United Methodist Church and the Lillie Young Sunday School Class. Betty was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving are, her husband of 54 years, E.C. Hampton, of the home; five children, Janet H. Kirkman, of Walkertown, Mike Hampton, of Belews Creek, Marla S. Hampton, of Winston-Salem, Beth Crews (Jeff) of Belews Creek and Eric W. Hampton of Cumming, GA; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Eula Smith, of Winston-Salem, Lucille Blum (John) of Lynchburg, VA and Lorraine Sturgill (J.M.) of Sparta, NC; and a dear friend of 37 years, Carol Sue Grubbs. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown with Rev. Sybil Parks officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, September 6, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
