WINSTON-SALEM - Betty Blake Ernst, 71, was welcomed into her eternal home on April 7, 2010. Born on January 7, 1939 in Mt. Gilead, NC to Herbert Harvey Blake and Opal Mae Frick Blake, Betty was the sixth of thirteen children. She was raised in a loving Christian family built on faith and hard work. On December 7, 1984 Betty married Owen Moon Ernst and loved him faithfully until he went to the Lord in 2001. Betty enjoyed crocheting, quilting, cooking, listening to bluegrass gospel music, and doing word searches. But nothing gave her more pleasure than her family and friends and she loved them all dearly. She was a wonderful step-mom, grandma, sister, daughter, aunt and friend, and she will be greatly missed. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a baby daughter, Patsy Ann; and two brothers, James Blake and Junior Blake. Betty is survived by her step-son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Linda Ernst; two grand-daughters, Jennifer Craver and Ashley Taylor; a great-granddaughter, Jocelyn Taylor; five sisters, Gathy Blake, Linda Lemanski, Pauline McCormick, Ann Sasser, and Carol Wright; three brothers, Kenneth Blake, Frank Blake, and Alvin Blake; twelve nephews; and thirteen nieces. A celebration of Betty's life will be held on Saturday, April 10 at Advent Moravian Church, 1514 West Clemmonsville Road, Winston-Salem, NC. There will be a visitation at 11:00am followed by the service at 12:00pm.
