Betty Lou Farrington Derrick died December 28, 2008. She was born August 7, 1928 in Forsyth County to Charlie Lee and Ethel Pitts Farrington. Betty graduated from Reynolds High School and Draughn's Business School. In earlier years she worked for Western Electric and retired from Piedmont Airlines in 1988. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Edith Farrington Smith, her brother-in-law, George B. Smith, Jr. and a nephew Danny Farrington. She is survived by her brother, Charles (Chuck) Farrington and wife Cathy of Winston-Salem; a nephew, Tim Smith and wife Nancy of Chula Vista, CA; two nieces, Toni Smith of Winston-Salem and Tobie Smith of Clemmons; four nephews, Charles Farrington and wife Terri of Mt. Pleasant, David Farrington of Winston-Salem, Gene Syphrett and wife Cathy of Clemmons, and Keven Syphrett and wife Becky of Winston-Salem; a great-nephew, Eric Williams and wife Cindy of Kernersville. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and caring neighbors. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Forsyth Memorial Park with Rev. John Rights officiating. Betty requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. ""We miss you Aunt Bet"".
